ETA is a trip journal made by [COMPANY NAME] (“we”). This policy explains what ETA records, where it keeps it, and what leaves your phone.
What ETA records
- Trips you start. From the moment you tap Start until you tap End, ETA records your phone’s location to measure distance and draw the route. It records nothing at any other time, and a notification shows for the whole trip.
- What you enter. Trip notes, place names, purposes, vehicles (nickname, make, model, consumption, fuel price) and fill-ups or charges.
All of this is stored on your phone. ETA has no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
Permissions ETA asks for
- Location, while using the app. Used only to record a trip you started. ETA never asks for background location.
- Notifications. Used only for the notification that shows while a trip records, with Pause and End.
Place names
When a trip ends and your phone is online, ETA asks Android’s built-in geocoder for the street address of the start and end points. Android sends those two points to Google to answer. ETA sends nothing else to do this. Offline, the trip shows “Address pending” and the lookup waits until you’re next online.
Route maps
When you open a trip’s report while online, ETA shows the route on a map from Google Maps. To draw it, the Google Maps SDK loads a map image of the area the route covers, so Google receives that area along with standard device information. The route itself is drawn on your phone and isn’t sent. Offline, ETA draws the route without a map and nothing is sent.
Google’s use of this data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Optional backup
Backup is off until you turn it on. If you do:
- You sign in with your email address and a one-time code we email you. There’s no password.
- A copy of your trips (including routes, start and end points, and notes), vehicles and fill-ups is kept online so you can restore it on another phone.
- The copy is stored by our service providers: Supabase (database and sign-in) and Cloudflare R2 (route files). They store it for us and don’t use it for anything else. Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
- Each night a copy of the database is kept for 14 days so we can recover from mistakes. Older copies are deleted.
We don’t sell or share your data, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Your choices
- Turn backup off
- In Settings. ETA asks whether to delete the online copy or keep it.
- Delete your account
- In Settings › Account. This deletes the online copy and your sign-in. Nightly copies that include it are gone within 14 days.
- Delete all data
- In Settings. Removes everything from your phone and, with backup on, from the online copy too.
- Export
- Trips as GPX or CSV, at any time.
Children
ETA is meant for adults and isn’t directed at children.
